Director of Quality, Manufacturing
Job Summary


Tarana seeks a Director of Quality to develop our quality systems and related business processes further as the company transitions to mass production.  The Director of Quality will assess the company requirements in all facets of quality management, from product design control through production to customer order acceptance, customer service, corrective action, and internal audit. As a by-product of the above actions, the Director of Quality will position Tarana to achieve ISO 9000 certification within 18-24 months.

Close collaboration with Tarana’s product development, operations, customer support, and product management teams is required. This role requires deep knowledge of quality systems and system implementation to train company employees and guide the creation and implementation of effective systems appropriate to Tarana’s growing business.

Qualified applicants with solid project management, people management, and communication skills will have a hands-on approach to leading quality system creation and implementation. The person for this position has a positive, team-first attitude, leads by example, enjoys sharing knowledge to advance the team, and is willing to learn and master new technologies. Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the executive management team with the development of a corporate quality plan.
  • Further development of Tarana’s quality organization and infrastructure, including improving quality metrics systems, tools, etc.  
  • Acts as a corporate interface to customers on quality-related topics   
  • Oversee and direct the overall quality direction of the corporation and the effectiveness of the quality management system
  • Assess Tarana Wireless’ quality system and develop a gap analysis 
  • Further development of the company's supplier quality system   
    • Supplier audit systems
    • Continuous improvement programs 
    • First article process development 
  • Develop and drive Tarana’s corrective and preventive action system to ensure effective resolution of product and process failures for customers, suppliers, and within the organization.   
  • Foster a customer obsession, ownership, and innovation culture within the quality team.
  • Collaborate with other departments (engineering, operations, and customer support) to address quality-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of quality professionals
  • Define and implement quality standards, processes, and best practices
  • Develop and implement 18 month ISO-9001 implementation plan  


Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (MS degree preferred)
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in Quality Management Leadership in electronic product manufacturing  environments, preferably in Wireless Communications or Networking
  • Significant experience in supplier quality management, particularly in the areas of contract manufacturing, PCB fabrication, and plastic/metal fabrication processes   
  • Previous success in defining, building, and managing quality systems and organizations.   
  • Experience and understanding of product development milestone/gate process  (both Hardware and Software) 
  • Experience in working as a quality interface with Tier 1 telecommunications service providers, i.e., ATT, Verizon, and TMobile, a plus
  • Significant direct roles in the implementation of more than one major ISO 9000 certification program
  • Prior wireless and RF experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for delivering high-quality products that exceed customer needs

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $230,000

Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.
